Anselm Casimir Wambold of Umstadt (1579–1647) was a German Catholic cleric and statesman who served as the Archbishop-Elector of Mainz from 1629 until his death in 1647. A key political figure during the Thirty Years' War, he supported the Catholic League and worked to strengthen the influence of the Holy Roman Empire. His tenure was marked by efforts to restore Catholicism in Protestant regions and navigate the complex political and military challenges of the war. Despite his efforts, Mainz suffered from the conflict, particularly during the Swedish occupation. He passed away in 1647, leaving behind a legacy of ecclesiastical leadership and political maneuvering.
