Tabaristan
Tabaristan or Tabarestan was a mountainous region located on the Caspian coast of northern Iran. It corresponded to the present-day province of Mazandaran, which became the predominant name of the area from the 11th-century onwards. After the fall of the Sassanians and during the early Islamic period they minted interesting 1/2 drachms in silver, based on the old Sassanian design and dated in the unique PYE ("Post-Yazdegard Era"), a local era of Tabaristan established when Tabaristan became and independent principality under the Ispahbads after the last Sassanian king Yazdegird was assassinated in 651.
