Pendjikent is modern-day Panjakent, Tajikistan. Panch was a local principality with the center near modern Penjikent, to the East of Samarqand, 60 km up in Zeravshan valley. Princes of Panch were issuing their own coinage during 7-8th cent., before Arab invasion. Their title was "afshin" - MR'Y or MR'Yn in aramean heterogram on coins. As Smirnova wrote, Amukyan should be contemporary of Sogdian king Warhuman.
