Rare gold fanam, unknown issue from Chitradurga, ca.1565-1779 AD, Southern India (Herrli #1.05) 

The common Vira Raya stylized motiff, with a crude Nagari letter derived from "Pra" of the Nayaka fanams / stylized boar. 9mm, 0.39 grams. Scarce. Herrli 1.05 type. SKU x75-34847

This issue was probably produced in Chitradurga by a local dynast or at a minor mint. It is not known who issued these coins.
