The Kampar Sultanate was a lesser-known historical polity located on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula, in what is now Malaysia. It is often associated with the region of Terengganu and may have existed as an early Islamic sultanate or trading port during the 15th to 17th centuries, though historical records about it are scarce and sometimes ambiguous. The sultanate likely played a role in the regional trade networks of the time, interacting with larger powers such as the Malacca Sultanate and later Aceh. Its decline may have been due to the rise of more dominant sultanates and the growing influence of European colonial powers, particularly the Portuguese and Dutch. Today, references to the Kampa Sultanate are primarily found in local oral histories and early Malay texts, making it a subject of interest for historians exploring the early Islamic and maritime history of the region.
