Bust of Charles X left / Denomination in wreath, mintmarks, date (1830) below, COLONIES FRANSAISES around. Paris mint. 27mm, 9.93 grams. KM #10.1
These coins were not minted for a use in any particular French colony, but were intended for a general use in the West Indias - particularly Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint-Dominique (Western Hispaniola). The coins were minted in France and shipped to West Indies - the mintage of these coins was usually quite small, and these coins are generally scarce.
