Diadumenian (208–218 CE) was the son of Emperor Macrinus and briefly held the title of Caesar (junior emperor) and later Augustus (co-emperor) during his father's short reign. Elevated to Caesar in 217 CE after Macrinus seized the throne, Diadumenian was given the honorary name Antoninus to strengthen ties to the popular Severan dynasty. In 218 CE, when Macrinus faced rebellion led by supporters of Elagabalus, Diadumenian was sent eastward to seek support but was captured and killed while trying to flee. His brief and tragic life reflects the intense instability and rapid turnover of rulers during the early 3rd century Roman Empire.
