Silver rupee from Awadh princely state, in the name of the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II, dated 1232 AH and frozen regnal year 26. Minted 1232 AH (1817), India. 22mm, 11.07 grams. Muhammadabad Banaras mint. Krause KM 103.2.
The Awadh issues in the name of Shah Alam II use a frozen RY date of 26. The date of issue can be determined by the AH date, and this then fixes the name of the Nawab during whose rule the coin was issued. Note the sprig next to the RY date and a sharply struck fish mark on the reverse. Beautiful very high quality example.
