Jia Jing Tong Bao // Blank. 27mm, 5.1 grams. Cast 1201. Mother-cash for Hartill 17.492.

Graded as mother cash, very high grade (85) with beautiful original green and brown patina. Exceptional quality and very sharp.

It is a mother-cash for a rare angular script calligraphic variation on Hartill 20.129, possibly a pattern or a sample cash. Extremely rare, very large. Exceptionally attractive example.

The coin has a closed crack in the upper left (it is professionally repaired and is visible only in an x-ray). These coins were damaged on purpose, to prevent their circulation. This practice of cracking mother-cash was used in the Ming and Qing period, right into the early 20th century.

This coin is unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic.
