Arabic inscriptions spread on both sides: Kalima, date and mint around, citing Ma'bad and Caliph al-Mansur by his regnal name of Al-Mahdi. Dated to 151 AH = 768 AD, mint of Bukhara. 21mm, 2.26 grams. Shamma p.328, #6; cf. Zeno 56399.

Scarce Central Asian Abbasid issue, struck at the fringes of the Abbasid Empire. Excellent quality for this poorly-produced type.
